Olen L. Palmer

Olen L. Palmer age 92 of Burr Oak passed away Monday morning October 26, 2020 at Thurston Woods in Sturgis.
Olen was born on August 8, 1928 in Pittsford, Michigan, a son of the late Arthur and Florence (Ettinger) Palmer.
Olen served his country in the United States Army from January 1946 to January 1949 and received the WWII Victory Medal.
On February 14, 1969 Olen married Alice (Start) Troyer in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Olen worked as a machinist at Sutton Tool in Sturgis for many years.
Olen was a member the Colon Baptist Church and also a member of the Colon American Legion. He enjoyed bowling, reading his bible and most specially spending time with his family.
Olen is survived today by his Wife Alice Palmer of Burr Oak, Children: Brenda (Bud) Leonard of White Pigeon and Mark (Treasa) Palmer of Howe, IN, Step Children: Gene (Vicky) Troyer of Kalamazoo, Jim (Deb) Troyer of Whitwell, TN, Don (Char) Troyer of Burr Oak, Phyllis Troyer of Bronson, Brother Brent Palmer, Sister Nila (Robert) Jackson, Several Grand Children, Great Grand Children, Step Grand Children, and Step Great Grand Children, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Olen was preceded in death by a Son Kent Palmer, Brothers: Deloy, Victor, Cloid, Ream, and Sisters: Lola, Dena, and Mona.
Following in the families wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a Graveside Service announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Colon Baptist Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at: Schipperfuneralhome.com.

Alice and family;
Don and I are saddened to see the news of Olen’s passing. We truly enjoyed the years spent with him bowling and the Many tournaments! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. Olen was very special. Love and Hugs to all of you!

Not a lot of customers touch our hearts like Olen did. He would come into our store and it was like he was on a mission to make us all smile and laugh. Every time it was a pleasure to see his smiling face come through that door. We will truly miss this man! Alice, We hope your tears soon turn into smiles as you reminisce.

Very saddened to hear of Olen’s passing, knew him and Alice for years through their daughter Phyllis and have been out to their house numerous times. Praying for comfort for Alice and the family
