Charles H. Vogel age 85 of Sherwood, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at The Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek.
Charles was born on August 16, 1935 in Jackson, Michigan, a son of the late James and Vivian (Littlejohn) Vogel.
Charles attended Union City and Sherwood Schools. He made his home his entire life in the Sherwood area. Charles worked at Kirsch Company in Sturgis in the early 60’s before switching over to Clark Equipment where he worked from 1965 until his retirement in 1983.
Charles married Lucille Klasner in 1957. She would precede him in death.
Charles loved to hunt and fish. He was known as a pool shark and enjoyed playing euchre as well. In his younger years Charles played a lot of fastpitch softball and was always building something. He was always known for having a good time with his friends and family and was a member of the Athens VFW post 5319.
Charles is survived today by his daughter Sherry Burns of Sherwood, grandchildren: Doreen (Jeremy) Holtz, and Alan (Rebecca) Burns Jr., great grandchildren: Gunnar Holtz, Berkley, and Emery Burns, several nieces and a nephew.
Besides his parents Charles was preceded in death by his wife Lucille, and sons: Steve and Stan Vogel, brother Norman Vogel, and sister Doris Hicks.
A graveside service will be held at Sherwood Cemetery on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be directed to the Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. Online condolences can be left for the family at Schipperfuneralhome.com.
