Jack R. Wallen age 76 of Colon passed away at his home on Thursday, June 17, 2021.
Jack was born in Water Gap, Kentucky on August 20, 1944, a son of the late William and JoEllen (Calhoun) Wallen.
Jack graduated from Warsaw High School with the class of 1963.
On March 12, 1977 Jack married Corliss Uric at the Sturgis United Methodist Church.
Jack worked as a tool and die make and a mold maker most of his life. He most notably worked for Sturgis Molded Products and Burr Oak Tool.
Jack loved music. He and his wife Corkie were members of the Shaken Hammer String band from its beginning in 1988. Jack liked to carve wood and was known for carving whimsical houses. Jack was worked hard and lived his life for to better his wife’s. Jack enjoyed gardening and attending his grand children’s sporting events. In his younger years he loved to play basketball and was known for his famous baby hook shot. Jacks greatest love was for his wife and his family.
Jack is survived today by his wife Corliss “Corkie” Wallen of Colon, children: Amy (Robert) Ballestros of Canton, GA, Heather (Eric) Wilke of Warsaw, IN, Jason Wallen of Sturgis, Jackie (David) Eells of Burr Oak, and Amanda (Michael) Knauss of Colon, 21 grandchildren, 13 great grad children with twins on the way, siblings: Ida Sue (Richard) Wallen-Gilbert, and Daniel (Mary) Wallen, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Jack was preceded in death by an infant sister.
There will be a private visitation held at the Schipper Funeral Home. Following the visitation cremation will take place.

Corky and family, so sorry to hear about Jack, Tom and I will certainly miss him!
Tom so enjoyed being his friend and being a part of Shakin Hammer’s String Band

I’m so sorry for your loss. I remember him as a supportive parent at the girls’ games and know he’s making music in Heaven now.
