Betty Louise Walter, age 88 of Battle Creek, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Lakeview Assisted Living in Battle Creek.
Betty was born on July 30, 1934, in Battle Creek, Michigan, a daughter to the late Milo “Cecil” and Ola (Buckner) France.
Living in Battle Creek her entire life, Betty worked at several places. The Lamb Knit Goods Co. as a supervisor in Colon, sales for American Brands, and a food demonstrator for Eckrich were what she was most known for.
On December 14, 1951, Betty married Lewis C. Walter, in Angola, Indiana. Lewis would precede Betty in death on November 15, 2017.
Betty’s spirit is so heavily rooted that it runs through the veins of every child, grandchild, and great grandchild. They all have her sense of humor and ability to make friends everywhere. She has a compassionate soul for the people who cross paths with her and makes best friends and even family with everyone that she meets. She was the funniest, most kind spirited, fun, and life loving person you could meet. She was a pistol, infectious, mischievous, and everyone that met her was a friend instantly. She was always a party and ready to go to the casino or even a night in playing video games… she may not be here, but we will find her in all who are a part of her. We live on through her. We all thank you for who we are. Her naughty giggles and loving advice will forever be missed. We love you forever and we “love you more”
Betty is survived today by her children: Debra (Mark) Dykens of Battle Creek, Sherry (Bob) Harrier of Union City, and Lewis C. (Gloria) Walter Jr., of Sherwood, son in law Bryan Yesh of Sherwood, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Milo “Cecil” and Ola France, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Lewis C. Walter, stepfather Rex Weeder, daughter Sharon Yesh, sister Marion Boyer, brother Donald France, and adopted son Clarence “Bud” Walter.
Following in her wish’s cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 2:30- 5 PM at the Vale Street Venue: 1745 E. Columbia Avenue Battle Creek, MI 49014. Interment of Lewis and Betty’s ashes will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 12PM. The Walter family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Lakeview Assisted Living for their care and compassion and Elara Caring Hospice for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to either Lakeview Assisted Living or The University of Michigan Cancer Research. Envelopes will be available at the celebration of life and the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be left for the family at Schipperfuneralhome.com
