Sharon Lynn Zitnik

Memorial Service: A private memorial service will take place at the Schipper Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Matteson Township Cemetery.

Sharon Lynn Zitnik, age 92 of Sherwood Michigan, passed away early Saturday morning, November 5, 2022, at Glen Arbor Hospice Residence of Battle Creek.

Sharon was born a daughter to the late Lynn and Matie (VanAken) Whitmore, in Battle Creek, Michigan on July 1, 1930.

Sharon graduated from Colon high school with the class of 1948. She would live in the Sherwood area from 1950 until 2008.

On January 15, 1949, Sharon married her first husband, Luther Wagaman. Their marriage would end in divorce. In 1971 Sharon married John Zitnik. He would precede her in death in 2004.

Sharon worked at the Sherwood and Battle Creek Post offices as a mail clerk for many years. Sharon was very proud to have grown up on the family farm in Matteson Township. She was also a very accomplished pianist, playing for many local churches and choirs for 22 years. She also gave many years of piano lessons.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Merrilee (Robert) Wagar of Sherwood, son, Michael (Terri) Wagaman of Arkansas, stepchildren: John (Rosa) Zitnik and Darla (Dale) Brzezinski. She had eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Zitnik, and two grandchildren: Ashley Wagar, and Michael Brzezinski.

Following in her wish’s cremation has taken place. A private memorial service will take place at the Schipper Funeral Home with burial to follow in Matteson Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Glen Arbor Hospice Residence. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
