Visitation: Friday, April 21, 2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Schipper Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Colon Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Minniear officiating. Interment will follow in Burr Oak Cemetery.
Mildred (Millie) G. Johnson age 71 of Colon, passed away, Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Grand Vista Assisted Living in Coldwater.
Born on March 16, 1952, in Sturgis, Michigan, a daughter to the late James and Marjorie (Ecklin) Hansen, Millie attended and graduated from Sturgis High School with the class of 1970.
On November 14, 1970 Millie married her husband of 52 years and the love of her life Robert Lee Johnson in Sturgis, Michigan. They have resided in their current home in Colon for the last 50 years.
Millie worked as a teachers aid and as a computer teacher in the Colon school system for over 20 years. She was also a photographer and freelance writer for all of our local newspapers for many years. When she wasn’t working in the schools or writing Millie also owned and operated Millie’s Photo Creations. She was also a former member and president of the Parent Education Group in Colon.
Millie is survived today by her husband Robert L. Johnson of Colon, 4 sons: Christopher Johnson of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Robert Johnson of Three Rivers, Michael (Roxanne) Johnson of Richland, and Michael (Tony) Thrasher, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents James and Marjorie Hansen, Millie was preceded in death by an infant son Joshua, and her sister Bonnie Church.
The Johnson family will receive friends and relatives from 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Colon Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Minniear officiating. Interment will follow in Burr Oak Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks memorial contributions be made to the Colon Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

I will always remember Millie as my Sunday School teacher and her favorite song “I’ll Fly Away” – she had us sing every Sunday. Sending love and peace to the Johnsons as Millie has flown home <3
