Michael A. Parlin age 79 of Centreville passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Mike was born May 19, 1939 in Battle Creek a son to the late Aaron and Maurine (Simpson) Parlin.
Mike grew up in Athens, graduating from Athens High School in 1957 and later moved to Centreville.
On May 19, 1972 he married Shirley A. Hovis in Wayne County. She preceded him in death November 26, 2015.
Mike had worked at Coachman Industries in Centreville, Rood Industries in Sturgis and later farmed until his retirement in 2005.
Mike had been a member of the St. Joseph County Conservation Club, where he did a lot of trap and skeet shooting, he was also an avid hunter.
He is survived by three daughters; Carol Parlin of Chicago, Anita Riegle of Battle Creek and Susan (James) Luplow of Spring Arbor, two sons; Ronald Parlin of Fulton and Scott Parlin of Centreville, 5 grandchildren, brother, Gordon L. Parlin of Battle Creek, Sister-in-law Sharon Regnier and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Phillip Parlin and son-in-law Paul A. Riegle.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. A funeral service celebrating the life of Michael A. Parlin will be Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon. If desired the family suggest memorials be made to either the CHEFF Therapeutic Riding Center or the St. Joseph County Conservation Club. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
